INSPIRE
The President of the Central Statistical Office is the leading body for two spatial data themes from Annex III to the INSPIRE Directive:
- statistical units,
- population distribution [demography].
In order to fulfil the requirements of the INSPIRE Directive the following datasets have been registered in the national register of spatial datasets and services:
- PL.ZIPGUS.312 – statistical regions and census enumeration areas (theme: statistical units)
- PL.ZIPGUS.2826 – NTS statistical units [Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistical Purposes] (theme: statistical units)
- PL.ZIPGUS.2827 – population distribution (demography)

View services are exposed to the software Java 8, (https protocol, a high level of security). Therefore it is not technically possible to read them on applications exposed using Java 7.

GRID – a statistical grid dividing Poland into 1km x 1km cells
BREC – boundaries of statistical regions and census enumeration areas

Localities for statistical purposes 2011 – this dataset is a result of harmonizing census enumeration area boundaries (BREC) with descriptive data from the locality catalogue (SIMC). Objects that represent locality areas have been created as aggregations of census enumeration areas. The aggregation was based on assigning census enumeration area identifiers (BREC) to locality identifiers (SIMC). The resulting dataset does not represent all localities from the SIMC catalogue, only those to which census enumeration areas have been assigned.
Datasets published in GML are harmonized and compliant with the final (3.0) version of the statistical units data specification.
For the theme population distribution [demography] at http://geo.stat.gov.pl//atom_web-0.1.0/atom/PD following data sets are available:
GRID – total population in a 1km x 1km grid
BREC – total population in statistical regions and census enumeration areas
NTS – demographic data for NTS statistical units:
- total population,
- classifications by:
- sex,
- 5-year age groups,
- economic age groups.

Datasets published in GML are harmonized and compliant with the final (3.0) version of the population distribution (demography) data specification.
Guidelines for using the download services:
Datasets for statistical units and population distribution (demography) data themes are published in ATOM predefined dataset download services. Datasets can be accessed via these services (URLs available in the "INSPIRE" section of this website). URLs for files that are parts of each dataset are available in the metadata. To access dataset metadata you have to use the metadata search tool in the Geostatistics Portal (Tools -> Search -> Metadata search):
Advanced metadata search allows specifying the resource type („Data set" has to be chosen):
Left click on one of the datasets from the result list will open the metadata element:
On the „Distribution" tab of the metadata element, URLs to files that are part of the datasets can be found:
